Still getting used to it. Pure Android just like the Pixel phones and running Android Pie 9. And run on the carrier of your choice, at least in the U.S.
Got so use to the bloatware that its a little alien to me. My only complaint so far is a lack of options for protective phone cases.
Can be had new for as low as $300 on eBay, Amazon, Swappa, etc. I bought mine used for $250 because it was a complete store demo.

Really wanted one of these, but they don’t play well with Fi...

How do you like Fi? I’ve been considering switching to it.

Interestingly enough, I got a new phone too! The PH1 was a very strong consideration however the lack of water resistance and lack of some form of OLED were major dealbreakers. I’m not sure what it is, but after having AMOLED/OLED in two phones it’s hard to go back to IPS and be satisfied. If my Mi Mix 2 had an OLED it would have been the best phone I’ve ever owned.
I ended up taking a step back and I got back the only phone I ever regretted selling: The Galaxy S7. Found an unlocked NIB one on eBay for $23 0 and so far I’m very happy. The phone is everything I remembered it was, but a litttttle slower because I forgot how TouchWiz works lol.

They even have a Lamborghini edition.

None of the phones have proper bands for North American use, unless you like spotty coverage.

I replaced my S7E with a PH-1. The screen on the PH-1 isn’t as super bright in daylight but otherwise the colors are nice. There’s more resolution because I could never get the S7E to run at 1440p without being super janky, so I had it cranked down to 1080p.

Why do they keep mentioning “young people” in their language on the website? I mean, I guess that’s their target market, but... it’s strange. Also no mention of where you can buy one.

You don't buy one in North America. As Toni said none of their phones have the radios to properly support any of our carriers.

Looks like it does, in the specs? What am I missing?

My company phone is a S7 Edge. My biggest gripe is that I always seem to buttdial people that I text because haptic key setup on the bottom. But bonus points for running Oreo now.

I got mine brand new when it dropped to $224. Been very happy with it. Make sure to switch your default camera app to the Google Camera port. For general picture and video taking, it’s wayyyyy better. I only use the E ssential camera app for portrait or B&W modes since those are tied to the secondary camera, which Google Camera can’t access.
I use the Arnova v8.2 version of Google Camera available here . You just install and go to town.
If you want to mess with it in more depth, someone on the Essential reddit posted this .

Oh also, cases, I have both the Tudia TAMM and the Poetic Karbon Shield. They’re both nice but I prefer the Poetic. It’s thinner and its styling is classier.

That's a shame. Hopefully when the PH-2 is available, it would work then.

I have nothing but great things to say about it. My coverage is more complete than any of the Verizon or AT&T customers I know, because of automatic switching. The customer service is absolutely incredible. The price is lower than any other service we could get with comparable options. I like the Pixel phones (we have the Pixel 1 XL) and the stock android, fast updates, etc. I can’t go back to another carrier. I high recommend it. Make sure you get someone’s referral code before you activate, get
s you both $20 off your first bill.

Well, only if Google decided to bring it into the fold. Though the story out there is that something with the PH1 and Fi conflict, and it can freeze out the phone, and sometimes your account. Very weird.

I looked at the specs and it looks like they have all the GSM bands used by US carriers? Same for LTE... so which bands are they missing?

That's why I was suggesting the next version. You would think since the former Google employee who created this phone would have thought of this, but it more than likely too far into development to add what would be necessary to make it work now.

It’s all but confirmed that the PH-2 is never going to happen. Essential halted all development on future devices a few months back and are currently looking for someone to buy the company.

Find X might be the exception, but generally Oppo is for Asian markets only and lack the bands. OnePlus is the global equivalent.

Interesting, I guess that explains their lack of presence in this market.

Yeah... Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus are all owned by the same company.
